This little scarf can be knit out of virtually anything! It is perfect to wear as an "indoor scarf", not only looking good with a variety of outfits, but it is surprisingly warm around the neck. It is a great way to use up odds and ends or treat yourself to a precious yarn and make something that won't take long to knit or break the bank! Try wearing it tied in a square knot or fastened with a brooch - be creative! Use whatever needle size the ball band recommends or even a little larger. If you don't have a ball band then use your best judgement and knit a trial swatch first. For yarns such as boucles that have a lot of texture, you can omit the eyelet pattern (yarn overs) and just start by casting on 3 stitches and increase one stitch at the beginning of each row. You can make it any size you like or just stop when you run out of yarn.

Cast on 4 sts.
Knit 1 row
Next row, knit 1, inc 1 st into next st (knit into front & back of st), knit to end of row. Repeat this row until you have 8 sts.
Next row, knit 3, YO, knit to end of row. Repeat this row until you have 14 sts.
Begin pattern:
Knit 3, YO, knit 3, YO, knit 2 tog, knit to end of row.
Repeat this row until your scarf is approx. 11 - 14 inches deep (measured from cast on point to the edge where you are knitting; what will be the cast off edge). Cast off loosely or use a larger needle size to cast off with.
*YO = bring yarn between needles to front, take yarn to back over the top of the neeedle and knit next stitch. This creates an eyelet or lace pattern and adds an extra stitch.
