Knit in Public Day - free!
Saturday, June 13, 2015 - 11:00 am to 4:00 pm - Gazebo/Bandstand, Mahone, Bay
Join us on this annual day to celebrate knitting around the world. Bring your chair and meet other knitters at the Gazebo/Bandstand in Mahone Bay. There will be light refreshments at Have a Yarn, door prizes, good company and of course, lots of knitting!
 
     
Chart Reading - Cost: $35
Sunday, June 14: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Practise knitting on two sample charts: one in the round and one worked flat. Learn tips for easier chart reading and decipher what all those symbols mean!
Note: This class requires advance homework This will be forwarded to you upon registration.
 
     
One Day Knit-Along: Bluebird of Happiness - Cost $45
Thursday, July 9: 10:30 am to 4:30 pm
Celebrate Summer with a tiny stuffed Bluebird! We will start and complete this project in one day. Learn techniques such as following a pattern, knitting on double pointed needles, short rows, increasing, etc.
Materials: 3.5 mm DPNs. All other materials provided.
 

Fix it! - Cost: $30
Saturday, July 18: 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
"This is the class that gives you confidence!" - Nancy Wilson, class participant
Fix holes, even out tension, pick up dropped stitches, un-knitting and more. Discover quick fixes to common mistakes - a great class for those who have started knitting recently or for those who are stumped on a problem. Bring your questions with you!
All materials provided.

Cast On/Cast Off - Cost: $35
Saturday, August 15: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Learn a variety of cast ons and cast offs. Learn characteristics of each so you’ll know which is the best one for the job. Have a favourite cast on or cast off? Bring a sample of it with you!
Materials: smooth yarn (DK or worsted) and needles to match


A Weekend with Lucy Neatby

We were lucky to have Lucy Neatby at Have a Yarn for the weekend on November 15 &16, 2014

Saturday morning was Double Up & Around for people interested in learning double knitting. Then in the afternoon the experienced double knitters got their turn in Double Knitting for the Addicted. Sunday morning was focused on finishing techniques in Gilding the Lily and the afternoon was rescue techniques in A Phoenix from the Ashes.

 
     
 

 


Handmaiden Meet & Greet and Yarn Tasting

Thanks to everyone who came to our Handmaiden Meet & Greet and Yarn Tasting! We had a fabulous afternoon of sampling yarns and talking fibre and colour. A very special thanks to Jana from Handmaiden for joining us here on a Sunday afternoon and sharing her beautiful yarn with us.

The Fleece Artist side of the Yarn Tasting.
 
It was wonderful to see so many people at the shop on a sunny Sunday!
 
Each cup in the Yarn Tasting had a small ball of Handmaiden or Fleece Artist yarn and needles in it for customers to sample knit with.
 
Many yarns were sold by the 100g to make for excellent savings.

Join us Tuesday and Sunday afternoons at 1:00pm for knitting and tea. Knit and chat with fellow knitting enthusiasts. Bring your knitting and a chair!
