Cast On/Cast Off - $35
Saturday, October 10, 2015 - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Learn a variety of cast ons and cast offs including the channel islands cast on and the lace bind off. Learn characteristics of each so you’ll know which is the best one for the job. Have a favourite cast on or cast off? Bring a sample of it with you!
Materials: smooth yarn (DK or worsted) and needles to match

Introduction to Sock Knitting - $50
Thursday, October 22, 2015 - 10:30 am to 4:30 pm (including a lunch break)
This day-long class is an intensive guide to knitting a basic sock including long-tail cast on, heel flap and heel turn, picking up gusset stitches, and the star toe.
All materials included.

Reading Knitting Charts - $35
Sunday, November 1, 2015: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Practise knitting on two sample charts: one in the round and one worked flat. Learn tips for easier chart reading and decipher what all those symbols mean!
Note: This class requires pre-homework - details when you register.

Fair Isle Knitting - $40
Saturday, November 14, 2015 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, lunch break, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Topics to be covered include: choosing the right yarn and colours, stranded knitting, steeks (cutting your knitting), and working from a graph.

Introduction to Double Knitting - $35
Sunday, November 15, 2015 - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
An introduction to the fascinating technique of double layer knitting. Learn to double knit with one and two colours, work yarn in each hand, and do double knitting decreases.
Materials: medium weight yarn and needles to match (straight or circular)

One Day Knit-Along: Bluebird of Happiness - Cost $45
Saturday, November 21: 10:30 am to 4:30 pm
This little Bluebird is a great way to practise techniques on a small surface! We will start and complete this project in one day. Learn techniques such as following a pattern, knitting on double pointed needles, short rows, increasing, etc.
Materials: 3.5 mm DPNs. All other materials provided.

A Weekend with Lucy Neatby

We were lucky to have Lucy Neatby at Have a Yarn for the weekend on November 15 &16, 2014

Saturday morning was Double Up & Around for people interested in learning double knitting. Then in the afternoon the experienced double knitters got their turn in Double Knitting for the Addicted. Sunday morning was focused on finishing techniques in Gilding the Lily and the afternoon was rescue techniques in A Phoenix from the Ashes.



Handmaiden Meet & Greet and Yarn Tasting

Thanks to everyone who came to our Handmaiden Meet & Greet and Yarn Tasting! We had a fabulous afternoon of sampling yarns and talking fibre and colour. A very special thanks to Jana from Handmaiden for joining us here on a Sunday afternoon and sharing her beautiful yarn with us.

It was wonderful to see so many people at the shop on a sunny Sunday!
Each cup in the Yarn Tasting had a small ball of Handmaiden or Fleece Artist yarn and needles in it for customers to sample knit with.
Many yarns were sold by the 100g to make for excellent savings.
