Cabled Ear Warmer Knit-Along DATE CHANGED

Sunday, Jan 31 & Feb 14, 2016 - 1pm to 3pm (2 sessions)
Can you knit and purl? If so, you can cable! Cables are much easier than they look! This two session knit-along covers a simple twist cable and button holes while letting you work along at your own speed.
The first session will cover getting started and off on the right foot for success. We'll get the cables set up and learn how to count rows in between cable rows. Between sessions you will be responsible for knitting as far as the buttonhole end. The second session will cover shaping the ends, making buttonholes, sewing on buttons and finishing.
Materials: 100m worsted weight yarn, 4mm needles (straight or circular), cable needle, two 7/8" buttons. Pattern included in cost.

Felted Hat Knit-Along

$30 for both sessions
Sunday, February 7 & 21, 2016 - 1:00pm to 4:00pm (2 sessions)
Knit a felted hat with Charlene. She'll walk you through the steps of making a felted hat: how to choose colour, add stripes, felt, and add embellishments.
Materials: two balls Galway, 8mm 24" circular and 8mm double pointed needles.


Reading Knitting Charts

Thursday, February 11, 2016: 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Practise knitting on two sample charts: one in the round and one worked flat. Learn tips for easier chart reading and decipher what all those symbols mean!
Note: This class requires advance homework This will be forwarded to you upon registration.



Fair Isle Knitting

Saturday, February 13, 2016 - 10:00am to 4:00pm (including lunch break)
Topics to be covered include: choosing the right yarn and colours, stranded knitting, steeks (cutting your knitting), and working from a graph.
All materials provided.


Introduction to Sock Knitting

Saturday, February 20, 2016 - 10:30am to 4:30pm
This day-long class is an intensive guide to knitting a basic sock including long-tail cast on, heel flap and heel turn, picking up gusset stitches, and the star toe.
All materials included.

Advanced Sock Knitting

Sunday, February 28, 2016 - 10:30am to 4:30pm
This is a class for people who have taken the Introduction to Sock Knitting class or who are comfortable knitting socks. We will cover the channel islands cast on, a short row heel, a round toe, grafting, and more.
Materials: sock yarn and double pointed needles (any size)

Introduction to Knitting

This is the class to take if you're looking to start knitting for the first time or if you're looking to get back into knitting. We'll cover all the basics to prepare you for knitting success!

One Day Knit-Along: Bluebird of Happiness
Cost $45
Thursday, March 17, 2016: 10:30am to 4:30pm
This little Bluebird is a great way to practise techniques on a small surface! We will start and complete this project in one day. Learn techniques such as following a pattern, knitting on double pointed needles, short rows, increasing, etc.
Materials: 3.5 mm DPNs. All other materials provided.

Dragon Scales Scarf

Saturday, April 16, 2016: 10:30am to 12:30pm
This class covers everything you'll need to know to make the beautiful Dragon Scales Scarf designed by Ran Schuey. Topics include crocheted provisional cast on, simple short rows, yarn overs, etc.
Materials: 525m of fingering weight yarn, 3.75mm needles


Mahone Bay Linen Stitch Muffler

Saturday, April 23, 2016: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Linen stitch makes a beautiful firm fabric that looks woven. In this class you'll start the Mahone Bay Linen Stitch Muffler designed by Ran Schuey. He'll help you choose colours, demonstrate the linen stitch and show you the attractive double knotted fringe.
Materials: 2 100g balls of fingering weight yarn in the same or contrasting multi-coloured yarn, 2.75mm needles, 4.5mm needles, 3.5 or 4mm crochet hook (for fringe)

Join us Tuesday and Sunday afternoons at 1:00pm for knitting and tea. Knit and chat with fellow knitting enthusiasts. Bring your knitting and a chair!
